1st assignment stateside was with 2/504 Infantry 82nd Airborne Division at Ft Bragg, N.C.  Joined the 101st Airborne Division in the fall of 1967 at Ft Campbell, K.Y.  Deployed to Vietnam with Delta Co 1/502 Infantry 101st Airborne Division in December 1967 returning to the U.S. in December 1968.  After my military service, I held various management positions with major transportation corporations up to the V.P level.  Now retired and residing in Southern California

Dan O'Toole was born on January 28, 1948, in Cincinnati, OH.  At the age of 17, he entered military service and attended basic training at Fort Knox, Kentucky.  After basic, he was assigned to Fort Sill, OK, where he attended AIT.  After AIT, he was assigned to Fort Benning, GA, where he attended jump school.  After jump school he was assigned to the 82nd Airborne Division at Fort Bragg, NC.  In the fall of 1967, he received orders for Fort Campbell, KY, where he was assigned to the 101st Airborne Division.  Shortly after, he deployed with the Division to Vietnam, where he served with the 1/502nd.  Dan retired from the United States Postal Service after 34 years.  Dan and his wife Diana, live on a farm in Northern Kentucky.  They have 3 sons and 5 grandchildren.

James Holmes is an Airborne Ranger at heart, he entered the Army at age 17.  He spent his 21st, 22nd, 23rd and 25th birthdays in Vietnam.  James served with A Company 1/502 Infantry.  He was awarded 2 Purple Heart Medals and 4 Bronze Stars with one for Valor.  He served with the most decorated soldier in Vietnam, Sergeant Rock aka Jorge Otero-Barreto.  James credits SGT. Rock with showing him how to survive and make it back home from the war.  James is married to Tracie Holmes; they have 4 children, 9 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren.  They currently reside in Fayetteville, GA.

This is my before and after photos. I am Eagle Chapter Delegate for the group. I live in Madison, MS. with My wife Jean. We have a 26 yr old son, Adam, also in Madison, and a 45 yr old son, John Jr. in Raleigh, N.C. I retired in 2006 from the MS Army National Guard with 19+ years active duty. My wife also retired with 20 years as a LTC. We have 2 grand daughters in Raleigh. I served as a combat medic in 1st 504th in the 82nd ABN DIV as well as the 2/506th in the 101st in Vietnam 1967-68.

SGT-AT-ARMS 2020-2022

jJohn joined the arny in 1968 and attended basic training at Fort Gordon, GA.  He then attended Advanced Individual Training (AIT) at Fort Polk, LA.  After AIT, he went to jump school at Fort Benning, GA.  After graduation he was assigned to the 82nd Airborne Division (All-Americans) at Fort Bragg, NC.  In July 1970, he deployed to Vietnam and was assigned to the 101st Airborne Division.  He returned from Vietnam in July 1971.  He then joined the Navy as a Boiler Technician and Ships FIrefighter.  He was discharged from the Navy after six years of honorable service.  He then joined the Key Largo, FL.  fire department and retired as a Fire Captain.  After 911, he joined the Monroe County Sheriff  Department and later retired as a Sergeant.  John has held several positions with our organization:  President, Vice President, Two Year Governor, Four YeAR Governor, as well as his last position of Sergeant at Arms.  John served in Vietnam with Bruce Laythan, who was one of the founding fathers of this organization.  We are sorry to report that John Marlowe passed away on May 24, 2021.

Marion David “Dave” Nesbitt was born on Jan. 2, 1948 in Sumter, SC.  He entered service Feb. 28, 1968 at Ft. Jackson, SC where he took basic and AIT training.  He then transferred to Ft. Benning, GA where he attended NCO Academy with the 73rd Training Company at Harmony Church.  Nesbitt arrived for duty in Vietnam on Nov. 16, 1968 and was assigned to 1st Platoon, A Co., 1/502nd Infantry at LZ Sally.  He served as the M60 gunner until seriously wounded at Dong A Tay in the A Shau Valley on Mar. 20, 1969 during Operation Massachusetts Striker.  He returned to Ft. Jackson, SC where he remained hospitalized until medically retired on Dec. 10, 1969.  His military awards include the Purple Heart, Bronze Star with “V” Device, Good Conduct Medal and CIB.  He resides in his hometown of Sumter, SC. and is married to the former Rosemary Bjork, since April 12, 2013. Between them, they have 4 sons, 1 daughter and 8 grandchildren.
